3 oz. will hardly raise the octane.
I used to know a bunch of guys with Turbo Buicks and they would add 3:1 parts gas and xylene to boost 91 to about 98-100 octane. So, obviously, it takes way more than 3 oz. to make a difference. Further, xylene, toloulene, or whatever tends to have much less BTUs that gasoline. So, adding the stuff actually gives you much worse gas mileage. (Plus Xylene and such, is much more expansive per-gallon...or, at least it used to be.)
