While searching for some software on my new iBooK, I found this thread and thanks for the suggestions !
Adium is a kick-ass IM client, better than gaim on linux, and trillian on win.
Here's a few other newer progs I've picked up and looking good so far.

airstumbler - to help 'find' any wireless connections to use
unrarX - extract RARs on your mac
I'll be adding more as I get more acclimated to my tiger..
BTW - Can anyone recommend a [free or otherwise] audio cd ripping app and listener besides iTunes !? I prefer my music to be OGG format...
