The only difference between period and regular sex is the blood... it may cause an otherwise very well-lubricated girl to be more dry with all the friction and whatnot, but that depends on the girl. I usually found that, if you really wanted to have sex while you or your girl is on her period, it's awesome to do it in the shower. Doing it in the shower is fun as it is, and this way you don't have to worry about making a mess or whatever. Worries deplete sex drive and the feeling of the sex. Eliminate an extra worry and all is candy.
Oh and yeah... most doctors say the pill takes two full courses (months) before it's totally effective.
