When I took apart my daughter's crib, I placed just the mattress on the floor as "practice" for a bed with an actual frame. For some reason, she refuses to sleep in it, choosing the floor instead. It is a perfectly fine mattress... I think she just likes to lay on the floor. Just a floor, pillow, and blanket suits her fine, but I think I should just go ahead and see if she'll sleep in a regular bed with a frame.
