I don't see anything wrong with it, there's a gap, but mental maturity is different than physical maturity. The law, however, does not agree with me. In the US, statuatory rape makes you a sex offender, even if you're 18 and her18th is tomorrow.
Not everyone looks at it that way, for example, in Russia, 14 is the age to doi porn. These things are more about cultural taboos than reality. If you're a good match, it shouldn't be stopped because of age.
