The thing about STD's like herpes is the s. You can't get them very easily without having sex. Mind you, oral sex counts for that (some people will have oral sex and still think of themselves as a virgin, I dunno if you do) but even then it's harder to get herpes from a blow job. It can happen, but I'm leaning away from that.
I'm with whoever said it's probably just an inflamed gland or something of that nature, but it doesn't hurt to get it double checked. It's embarrasing for you to have to whip it out in the doctor's office, but these people are professionals. This is what they're there for.
