Interesting. I find it sad people would actually be happy, but such is sports.
If Clemens or any shoo-in was popped, I definately would still say suspend for 1 year withhold all pay. (But I'm one who believes that the punishment now is far far too lenient, If they feel the need to do them they need to face the consequences.)
However, as it is, the played would get suspended, there'd be some nasty press, he'd do his 10 day suspension and come ballot time, he'll work the pr routes and do everything asked and get elected and nothing big will ever be said.
As for one of the posts on the one board that claims he's having his best year in his 40's and this proves it.... well Nolan Ryan was far better in his later years, and the reason is, when a fireballer comes up he believes he can just sling it in there. But he lacks control and his ERA is sporadic as are all his stats except K's.
As a fireballer matures, if he is a great pitcher (Ryan, Feller, Clemens, Johnson, Carlton) they become finesse pitchers also and once they get the finesse and control down, and their velocity is there, they are very dominant.
With training and our lives today, players don't age as fast as they used to, the ones that live the high life or don't train well do but someone like Ryan or Johnson or Clemens, who train hard and work hard can play longer.
We know more about the body, medicine, workout routines and rehabs are far superior to those old ways and therefore players can play longer and stay in shape longer.
Even the David Wells' fat alcoholic out of shape slobs can last longer because of the benefits mentioned above.
So for people to say that because of Clemens' performances at his age prove he is juiced is a bit of a jump.

I just love people who use the excuse "I use/do this because I LOVE the feeling/joy/happiness it brings me" and expect you to be ok with that as you watch them destroy their life blindly following. My response is, "I like to put forks in an eletrical socket, just LOVE that feeling, can't ever get enough of it, so will you let me put this copper fork in that electric socket?"
