But if you believe that all people that are past birth shouldn't be killed (barring a sufficient justification), can't you just read his post and substitute "has a right not to be killed" for "shouldn't be killed"? If you can do that, then I don't see an insurmountable barrier between your two worldviews.
Fwiw, I do agree that it's an assumption, but I don't believe that it's wrong. But then, it's one of those untestable beliefs from the moral realm of "ought". There's not much point in arguing it, aside from a desire to clarify the position or opposing positions.
