its a little complicated. There is a town at the base of the mountain, I stayed there. Then there is about a 30 min bus ride up the mountain from there...there is a single hotel up at the top actually within the machu piccu sanctuary, and from there its only about a 5 min walk into the heart of the ruins. So I guess the answer is yes, though I did not. But if you are talking about for night pictures, you have to leave the ruins by a certain time and get there at a certain time (though its rediculously early, like 5 or 6), but you cannot camp on the actual ruins themselves. That was a long answer to a simple question, but there it is.
