I have a sort of similar setup.
Laptop with wireless 802.11b through the wireless router can print off the desktop server running win98 that has a printer attached, even if the DSL is not active.
easiest option would be to plug your printer into the desktop, activate printer sharing, and then share that printer out.
Go to your laptop, install a new network printer, type in the share location of that new printer, and voila! you've got wireless printing.
Essentially the wireless router is acting like a hub/switch and a DSL modem at the same time. The two functions are independent so there is no problem with sharing the printer even without the dsl.
