Gift Ideas (of the Scotch variety)
Greetings,
I read up on my Scotch from you wonderful TFP comrades and I remain a bit confused. I mean, I know how I should start out when developing my own tastes for scotch, and that's just fine and dandy.
However, there's a problem: I would like to get a bottle of fine scotch for my father. This is a gift for his 60th birthday/25th anniversary/retirement. Yes, all three rolled into one mighty fine shindig.
Anyway, the problem I'm having is what the hell kind of scotch should I get for a man who has years of scotch drinking under his belt?
My father is a wealthy man (he can put four kids through college), as he was a patent attorney for 3M corporation. He's been drinking scotch as long as I've been alive (a meager 21 years, I know).
Anyway, advice on what the hell to get him would be just dandy. When he stayed with me for a visit to college he bought himself a bottle of Dalmore if that helps any of you. Assume he's a seasoned vet when it comes to scotch whisky because.... he is...
Observe (his comment after finishing off 2/3 of a bottle (in one sitting) of 60 pound scotch my roommate bought when she went to England), "Some people drive cars all day every day.... This is what I do"
