i agree with you about raymer hes not really a fluke, but look at 2002 winner robet vayrkonie(sp?) he hasnt finished in a money in any tourny since 2003 even doyle brunson went so far to call him a "bad player" and "a fluke" hes actually went back to being a stock day trader...but thats not the only example
chris moneymaker- a great example of an amateur winning and now hes trying to be a pro but people are catching on to him not in the money in the last 2 wsop's plus if anyone watched him in poker superstars 2 he not only didnt win any of the 6 matches he played in he didnt even get higher than 4th out of 6.. he finished i belive in last out of the 24 pros
but i agree that maybe a pro wont win anytime soon but they well be the ones that will be more consistant look at phil ivey, he finished 10th in 2003 in the money last year and 20th this year,
bottom line pros will be consistant and amatures will be more likely to have a one and done type career..
but who knows
