Not wrong at all. I had a similar problem not too long ago. $30 altogether got me a brand new drive (I don't really care if it's a thompson, it's only got to last till the end of November anyway
).
$5 at Wal*Mart for a screw driver set with the right tools in it and about 20 minutes of my time one afternoon and wham-o, bam-o my X-box problems are over.
Well, it should carry me over to the 360 comes out at the very least.
