The first several episodes of the second season rock about as hard as the first season eps do. Once you get into the whole "Save the Pine Weasel" subplot, it's officially jumped the early shark.
The actual finale episode was effing brilliant, though, as were the episodes leading up to it. It got dark and scary and mysterious again as the series drew to a close, after several episodes of comic relief and silliness.
