the upload should be easy. iphoto should auto-recognize the camera, and ask you if you want to upload. details on what you're using, etc? error messages? etc?
editing? get photoshop. i tried to get along with out it, but it's kind of necessary. i think there might be a mac version of photoshop elements for basic stuff.
ichat doesn't support multiple login names. go to preferences, accounts. change it there. if you want/need multiple log in names...look and see if there is a trillian client for OSx, or use AIM. i'm an ichat fanatic, but it's just my laptop...
