Oxygen in the body is crucial to healing. My grandmother had a lot of scar tissue in her lungs and wasn't breathing well. She had fallen and scraped her shin. It took a YEAR for it to heal. What finally healed it was when the Dr's finally put her on oxygen. Then it healed within weeks. Until she got sufficient oxygen it simply festered and oozed. When she was started on the oxygen it closed up within days.
I would suggest aerobic exercises, breathing exercises such as yoga, and just conciously watching how you are breathing during the day. Often as we get older, because of tension and simply because we just don't think about it much we don't breath as deeply.
Good Luck.
