Well this is strange....without changing any settings, I IMed somebody (the default setting is to chime when sending an IM) and the chime went off. And now, the sound works............STRANGE!!!
CULPRIT WAS FOUND!
The CMSS 3D option was unchecked in the Creative Mixer, and when checked, the sound works, without it, no sound. Again, weird.
