If you mean rear projection TV, their pic quality is lousy.
If you mean front projection TV, their pic quality can be good, but even a 2,000 lumen one will be too dim during the day if you have windows that admit light. Either put it in a windowless den or expect to also be investing in light cancelling window treatments. Also keep in mind you need some sort of screen for it - either an actual projection screen or special paint on the wall.
For plain old every day use, the old style CRT is still the best, hands down.
