After I told them that I had fixed it I wouldn't expect them to use the PHP. Furthermore, he should have asked if he could execute the code. It's in a protected area (of course they have root privs so that doesn't really matter).
I could have easily prevented the email from going to everyone on the list with a change to a single line which I would have done if I had known he was going to test it.
