Growing pains
I've heard conflicting stories about what growing pains are.
Lately my daughter has been complaining of leg pain. She may be walking along, playing, sitting, or lying and then she'll move and then suddenly say "OW!" and sometimes even cry. She'll sit and rub her legs or ask me to carry her because it hurts to walk. It doesn't seem to be one single activity that aggravates it. She says that the pain is in the back of her legs mostly or around her knees. It seems to affect her most when she's been idle for a while and then moves. She's not always sitting on her knees or in a position that would cut off the circulation. The pain seems to be worse when she puts weight on her knees. At least that's when she complains more. I'm only really able to tell what I SEE since she's not able to explain what or where it's hurting precisely. Is this possibly 'Growing Pains'?
I never really had them much that I remember and my mom says I didn't complain much about it. She just knew when I had a growth spurt because all of a sudden I'd be running into things, tripping and just an overall clutz. My brother on the other hand has some severe leg pain that the Dr's attributed to growing pains. I remember him in tears even has a preteen and my mom staying up nights to rub his legs just so he could sleep. They've since diagnosed him with Juvinile Rheumatoid Arthritis. I'm afraid it could be something like this. Especially since there is a history in my family of immune problems of that sort (Lupus type disease and Adult Rheumatoid arthritis) If it continues or re-occures I do intend to go to her Dr. I want all the info I can find though. I want to hear what KIND of pain anyone here had when it came to growing. Where did it hurt? Was it sudden? Any experiences or information would be helpful.
