yea, i've had that happen to me on a LAN game once.
I usually just mass attack with fully upgraded units
The strategy I use alot is that I charge into the base and then I drop 4 Dreadnoughts with the Orbital Relay.
It turns out to be quite effective in destroying a base.
specially since most fire immediately switchs to dreadnoughts leaving my huge military to destroy everything else
