le meridian took over the King Edward, its actually called Le Meridien King Edward. The ultimate in swank, right downtown in the business district. Close to Yonge street & some theatres & the Eaton Centre, but not so close to the lake (like the Westin Harbour Castle is).
I would choose the Windsor Arms because it is much more intimate, and it is in the Yorkville area, with lots of nice smaller (and expensive ) restuarants. it is also close to shopping, the Museum, Uof T campus, and Bloor street .
the Hyatt is very close to the Windsor Arms, across from the Museum, but it is a bigger less intimate hotel.
the Royal York is a classic older hotel too, and is located across from Union Station downtown, but is also close to theatres and the King St restaurant scene. Like what was posted by hossified, their normal rooms are plain, standard, try to get nice ones with a view.
My vote for romantic? the Windsor Arms
