I would have agreed with you a few years ago. I biked to work everyday, even during the typhoon season. I enjoyed it UNTIL, in a six month span I was hit 3 times by cars. I didn't bike on the sidewalk but on the road with the traffic and cars went through the stop signs and hit me. The last one, I did a Jackie Chan right over the front hood and spent a week in the hospital with a herniated disk. I'm still not 100%.
So bascially for me, I came to the conclusion that 3 strikes your out and I bought a cheap used car.
Also, I am in a small town in Nagano-ken. Basically the boondocks of Japan. There is no 7/11, video rental store, game centers, shopping. Only a small supermarket. I have to go the the next town for everything else.
Anywho, gas is expensive.
