We can’t be all that unusual to know that we are better as ourselves, but it seems like we are. What drives a person to need this kind of radical change in order to feel good about themselves? If anyone has gone through this sort of thing, please help me to understand the needs behind it.
My current view on the need for plastic surgery is pretty tangled and undefined… the burn victim, the car accident, the breast cancer, no question but that the person should have whatever will help them get back to themselves. I get the stomach-stapling, when it’s such a huge weight difference that it’s not likely the person could ever lose it conventionally. But bigger breasts, or a face lift, or collagen shots… yes, you should only do it for yourself, but why do you need to do it for yourself? That’s the part I don’t understand.
