I don't think you were seeing Fieros then, likely MR2s. The Fiero has plastic body panels, just like a Saturn. In fact, the body panels for the Saturns are made on the exact same machines that the Fiero panels were made on. So your chances of seeing a (visibly) rusted Fiero are basically impossible, unless they were driving around without body panels (which some guys in the club are known to do). They don't make louvers for the back windows. And it's pretty much impossible to make a Fiero explode by hitting it in the back (or hitting it anywhere for that matter). The gastank is under the center console, which is probably the safest place to put a tank in any car.

If I came off sounding like a dick, I didn't mean it. I am really into Fieros and I know more about them than most people. I get kind of offended at misinformed people, which is true of most car enthusiasts it seems.
