Savannah? I spent St. Paddy's Day 1978 in the lock-up on a public intox charge! Spent the day seeing Jimmy Carter speak and later, after my arrest, was in a cell across from a guy who was on his way to see Jimmy with a sawed-off under his trenchcoat. He said he always carried it, and he didn't mean anyone any harm. The Secret Service wasn't buying it, though.
One of the best St. Paddy's Days I ever had...well, up to the point where they put the cuffs on...
One of my bros from MCAS Beaufort came and bailed me out the next day and I caught hell from the squadron First Sergeant who informed me Marines were supposed to present a clean-cut image, not the hard-drinking, hard-fighting stereotype the recruiter told me about.
I told him I wouldn't have enlisted if I'd known that...
