Happy St Patty's Day!

OK, so I'm a Wee Bit early... but this is my favorite holiday... Gotta love a holiday that has a major city dye the river that runs thru it... Green... (Why they can't dye it blue the restof the year I don't understand.. but it's still cool)

Gimme your best Irish Blessing... Irish Toast... Irish Momism... Everyone is Irish Today... Share something.

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.
But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.

Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue.
But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.

Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away.
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

Happy St. Paddy's Day!!!

May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head be always strong.
And may you be in heaven
half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

And a timeless Irish Classic....

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

heh... time to make best use of my Irish heritage. I'm gonna pull out that "Kiss me, I'm Irish" shirt. My lineage isn't readily apparent (because I'm a damn genetic mutt), but on St. Patty's day, that doesn't matter.

Paddy is having a tough time finding work in Belfast, so he decides to ride the boat to the USA. He finally finds work at NASA.

He is strapped into a rocket, with a monkey on the left and a monkey on the right.

Paddy hears over the intercom:
"Mission Control to Monkey 1, Mission Control to Monkey 1: Start computer sequence for main ignition..." The monkey to Paddy's left presses a hundred different buttons, and the rocket takes off from the launch pad and starts to climb into space.

Paddy hears over the intercom:
"Mission Control to Monkey 2, Mission Control to Monkey 2: Start computer sequence for main rocket separation..." The monkey to Paddy's right presses a hundred buttons, and the rocket separates, leaving the capsule floating peacefully in orbit.

Paddy hears over the intercom:
"Mission Control to Paddy Murphy, Mission Control to Paddy Murphy..."

And Paddy speaks up "I know, I know, Feed the monkeys and don't touch the fuckin' buttons!"

I always do carbombs with a full pint of Guiness, and a full shot of Jameson's and Bailey's - but to each his own. Tonight will be many carbombs and much drinking - ah, to have Irish blood.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

It's the Chicago River, big enough.

Geez, they reversed the flow of the river so that it flows away from Lake Michigan rather than into it, what more do you want?

My plans for the day are so incredibly nerdy it's terrible...my friends are coming down and we're going to get drunk and watch the extended version of Return of the King.

Yeah. Exciting, I know.

But it's finals week here and most everyone is too tired to really party hard...besides, I've been drinking all week.

Savannah? I spent St. Paddy's Day 1978 in the lock-up on a public intox charge! Spent the day seeing Jimmy Carter speak and later, after my arrest, was in a cell across from a guy who was on his way to see Jimmy with a sawed-off under his trenchcoat. He said he always carried it, and he didn't mean anyone any harm. The Secret Service wasn't buying it, though.

One of the best St. Paddy's Days I ever had...well, up to the point where they put the cuffs on...

One of my bros from MCAS Beaufort came and bailed me out the next day and I caught hell from the squadron First Sergeant who informed me Marines were supposed to present a clean-cut image, not the hard-drinking, hard-fighting stereotype the recruiter told me about.

I told him I wouldn't have enlisted if I'd known that...

Did a few of those on Thursday night and all I can say is

Of course my cousin makes them a little different.

Pour yourself a Black and Tan (1/2 pint of Bass and 1/2 of Guinness)
1/2oz of Canadian Club
1/2oz of Dooley's Toffee Liqueur
layer them in the shot glass, drop into the beer and slam it back. A killer drink that will sneak up on you quicker than a fart in a windstorm.
