What if it really had been something? We, after all, haven't read it. We don't know the verbage, or the structure, that was used. Now...suppose something had come of it. The first thing that you would've heard was, "Where were the parents/grandparents?". It may not be the approach that I'd have taken...but I can definately see why they did. We've become conditioned.
