Far Cry wouldn't work with my laptop's old built-in Radeon M6 video. I remember some kind of "nice try, g'night" message before it bailed. Their minimum spec says:
Video Card: 64 MB DirectX® 9.0b-compatible graphics card
It'd be worth trying the 1.3 (?) update before giving up. It's a fairly significant (70+MB) patch.
