Yo, fly. I used a big, brick, gas-fired kiln on campus. Some day I'll have to build my own...after the kids are older and less likely to lock one-another inside it.

The basic rule of not killing a cactus is to SOAK the soil when you water it. Water the hell out of it every couple of weeks in the Summer. Once a month in the Winter. Lots of cactus novices fear overwatering and end up with a sad cactus.
