i've been a big fish/marillion fan since the mid-80s. marillion (with fish) only played near me once in '87, but at the time my girlfriend wasn't really into them and didn't want to go (and made it clear she wasn't all that keen on my going without her). like an idiot, i passed on the opportunity, and fish left the band a year and a half later or so. in the years since, both fish and marillion have made small tours of the states. i got lucky with marillion, and managed to see 4 shows in the years from '90 to '97 - given how much they tour the states, that's a lot for not seeing multiple shows on any tour. fish had one tour that got within a few hours of me once, but i didn't go (can't remember why now). the next tour, i snatched up my ticket for the cincinnati show (an hour and a half from me) right away - a couple of months before it was to happen. i would FINALLY get to see fish in person!
of course, given i'm posting it in this thread, you know that didn't happen. fish ended up having to cancel his entire north american tour. if memory serves, that was around '97 and he hasn't toured the states since. i still have the ticketbastard ticket and am thinking of sending to him and asking him to sign it for me at least.
marillion, on the other hand, toured the states back in october for the first time since '97. my 7 year old son was 2 weeks old the last time i saw them, so i jumped at the chance to see them again. it was a fantastic show, and i'm hearing rumors of them hitting the states again this year.
