I knocked my front tooth out when I was 13. Went immediately to ER where they jammed it back in (this is the most painful memory I have in my life). It lasted about 10 years, but then got wobbly. Unfortunately for me, the root stayed implanted but the tooth had resorbed at the gumline. That meant extra surgeries to have my implant done. First we had to drill the root out and do some bone grafting. That took 6 months of waiting, then we began the implant process.
The good news is, all that was over 12 years ago and I have a totally healthy, normal looking front "tooth". It's given me no problems. You do have to be sure to keep it clean, and the dentist will teach you to do that.
If you end up doing an implant, make sure you have a dentist and oral surgeon that you can work well with, and who work well together. You're going to all be tied together in an expensive, time and money consuming process.
