I recommend/use:
- 1) Type of League: Head 2 Head
2) Auction or Regular Draft: Regular Draft
3) Keeper? Keeper would be great, but that can be something that can be worked out as the season progresses and you get an idea of how many members are active..
4) League Platform: Yahoo, providing MLB.com's exclusivity deal doesn't prevent Yahoo from hosting leagues.
5) Do we want our own entry fee that goes towards prizes? Maybe.. If it's reasonable, and still has fun as the focus, sure. This also encourages activity.
5a) (only if we choose prizes) do we want to pay for add drops? Not sure I understand this question.
6) Amount of teams 12-14 should leave a nice mix of talent/scrubs on waivers.
8) Stats: Generally positive, with possibly 1 negative to keep it fun. I use: R, HR, RBI, SB, K, OBP, W, L, SV, K, ERA, WHIP
9) Amount of stats: 5 x 5 +1 negative for each (hitting/batting)
10) Amount of players This includes all roster, bench, dh and utility position: 25, I use: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, Util, SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN
11) Injured list: 2 DL spots
12) Waiver Time: 2 Days
13) Vetoes: League Votes. Allows the commish to be impartiel and a player instead of supreme commander, that is going to upset one side by manually overriding trades. With active owners, League vote is ideal IMO.
That is what I use in my league I run for friends. I've been running fantasy leagues for a few years and have settled on these settings, and use them from year to year.
They work well for my leagues and may give you and others an idea and something to work with, or start from..
I'd definitely be interested in this league if there are still openings.
