Actually, I think it is fair that they post the legal page. Most Record Labels don't even bother until you are all excited about the whole idea.
Anyways, That is my two cents.
I do agree with you however. You should negotiate as much as you can. If a label comes to you, you have the ball in your court. You can negotiate a better deal for yourself.
