Thats what some of the researchers looking into the animal were speculating. Some tought it might have been the result of breeding between some wild dogs and a muntajec, which is some type of deer. Whether or not it turns out to be a new species or some genetic deviation of a common animal, all have to agree that it is some strange looking animal.
Also there was another article stating that another one of these creatures was found dead close to where the original creature was found. They had pictures of this one as well, though this new creature had a much noticable blue color to it. I'll try to find a link to that article as well.
