Just some facts:
Death rates:
influenza- 1%
pnuemonia- 13%
SARS- 20%
smallpox- 33%
SARS has no quick screening test, no vaccine, high resistance to common disinfectants, can live for up to 24 hours in the open air, can live up to four days in waste, has a high ability for mutation and is easily transmitted from person to person.
Has anyone considered that the reason we don't have to worry about this is because the WHO, CDC, etc acted quickly and deciseively? Yet in spite of their best efforts SARS has spread to 23 countries around the world.
I am gald it was "overblown". Now I can rest easy, even though I live in Asia.
