That's a good point. So maybe that's why I find 'Vincent' the oddest. (or maybe it's just the lyrics: "But I could have told you vincent / This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you") Maybe I'd like it more if someone who knew him personally sang it.
But 'Picasso Visits Matisse' (The Derek Lind one, and quite an cool song...) isn't too bad because it's telling a story in third-person, (I wonder if you can call this a fanfiction? It's got dialog and a story line...
)
And then there's "I'll be Missing You" which is just a great song. Actually, I think of this song as a eulogy, so... totally normal.
