I got real straight hair and winter makes it looks fuzzy. I have several methods to cope with the dryness.
1. I rarely blow dry my hair. Letting it air dry doesn't dry it out so much. When I do use a hair dryer I don't dry it till it feels dry. Just a little dampness left in and then air dryed seems to help keep the fuzzies at bay.
2. I use a boar bristle brush. They're a bit more expensive but last much longer, aren't hard on the hair and pull much, and don't build up static like nylon brushes do. You can get them in varying degrees of stiffness. I've use them on long and short hair both and they work great.
3. I use Infusium leave in conditioner in a spray bottle. I only use as much and when I need it. It works good as a detangler for my daughter's long hair since she wakes up with rats nests more often than not.
