Is there any "failsafe" mode you can boot it into to see if it boots faster? Maybe ACPI needs to be turned off.
If you can boot to a command line, make sure your networking is enabled, and try pinging something (ie. www.google.com). This will tell you that it's working and your DNS is set properly as Cyrnel suggested.
