Some of you may remember me talking about Queen coming together to do a concert with "The Voice" Paul Rodgers of Bad Company and Free from when I posted about it being in "The Hotseat" well I picked up the Rolling Stone yesterday and they have more info about it. The show will feature Brian May and Rodger Taylor of Queen but John Deacon chose not to participate unfortunately. The tour will begin on March 19th with an AIDS benefit in South Africa. After that they plan spring arena dates in Europe and it also says probably fall shows in the US as well. Rodgers is now rehearsing with the guys and studying the Queen catalog to see which songs best suit his rough voice. It says songs like "We Will Rock You!" and "Fat Bottomed Girls" are likely choices I wouldn't mind hearin him try "Tie Your Mother Down" and "I'm In Love With My Car" myself...maybe even go out on a limb and try "Born To Be Kings"
. May says "Paul was a real hero to Freddie. And a big influence - you can hear it on the early stuff." Holy crap..It says another possibility is a version of Bohemian Rhapsody that would see Rodgers trade vocals with a video image of Mercury. Rodgers says "It's very challenging, because Freddie was a great, great frontman." When someone as notorious as Paul Rodgers is saying that about you, you know you really had something. Thank God for Freddie Mercury R.I.P.
I also read that the original lineup of CREAM will be getting back together for a short tour as well!
They're planning only 4 shows in May at London's Royal Albert Hall. It also says that a DVD and possible live album are likely to follow from this small tour. It does say that a full tour is unlikely though
. It will more than likely just be the four shows and thats it.
Thats all I've come across for now.
Asta!!
