oh man, let me tell you my bad experience with newegg:
I needed a new modem for my parent's computer so who do I order it from?...the best site ever of course (newegg). I even pay the extra 2 bucks to rush my order so I can get the modem installed before my parents leave for the week (that way they wouldn't worry all week about their computer). I get my package amazingly fast, so that was nice, but then I open it up to find the wrong one...they sent me a pcmcia one instead. I call and the nice young lady just says we'll ship out the right one immediately and you just go ahead and keep the one you got. I say thank you very much.
5 days later, it hasn't come, I haven't gotten any emails, and there's no info on my newegg account. I call and the guy told me that now I have to send the other modem back first....would've been nice to get the memo ASS!! I told him I wasn't gonna pay to ship it back so he said he'd credit my card $7 to pay for it. I say fine. I go ahead and ship it back even though I haven't gotten the $7 yet.
6 or 7 days go by and I get the right modem. I check my card and there was no $7 credited to it. So I call again to get my freaking $7. Now the guy tells me I have to show them the receipt of shipment to get my money WTF!?!?! I told him I don't have it because I was told I would be credited $7. Why the hell would I keep the receipt if I thought I was already reimbursed for it? Finally he credits $7 to my account while confirming that there never was the original $7 credited to my account. But I wasn't getting my 2 bucks for rush ordering back...bastards.
Basically I'm pissed at this point, so I send an email to their customer service explaining how I was lied to twice. I said it's likely I'll never buy from them again. I expected a good apology as no business wants to lose a customer. The message I got back was this:
They said that Desire (the girl that first told me to keep the modem) was informed that she should've asked me to send the modem back.
They said nothing about the guy that said he'd credit my account and didn't.
As for me not likely buying from them again, they simply said "We're sorry you feel that way". That's something you say when you don't give a crap about the person. There was no "sorry for your inconveniance", only "we're sorry you feel that way".
Well I haven't bought anything from them since. I've been using sites like pricewatch.com and fatwallet.com to get better deals anyway. So yeah, i'd look through those sites. Pricewatch.com recently put in a review system so you can see which sites are not trustworthy. If you know exactly what card you want, go to fatwallet.com and search for it in the forums to see if there's any rebate deals. If not, go to pricegrabber.com and check there....make sure to check after shipping is included.
I think that newegg has just gotten too big for its own good now.
