Aintitcoolnews.com... not so cool anymore?
it seems like aintitcoolnews.com has lost its stride recently, has anyone else noticed that? it used to be my favorite sight to hear about movies coming down the pipe and first reviews of ones coming out... but it seems like they're short on news and relevancy these days.
i used to love it because it was so geeky... but now it seems like it has fallen into the general sort of cinematic snobbery that makes me tired of most of the other film critic`s sites. Harry picks the most obscure movies and dvds for his favorites but i get the feeling that he's just trying to be snobbish, not cause he really likes them. furthermore, his picks and reviews are increasingly becoming politically charged. it's his site and he can do what he wants... but i think he takes the fun out of that brand of pop-culture when you take it so seriously. it's not taken too seriously in the sense that he puts too much time into it, just that he destroys it by making it what it's not.
it's slowed down too. the last 3 movies Harry has reviewed are Blade Trinity, Alexander, and the SpongeBob Squarepants movie. wow. plus, the only thing worse than the moderation on their talk-back feature is the grammar.
also, i've got to call bullshit on a lot of stuff he says regarding the movies he likes. you'll often see him say he's watched some obscure movie 7-8 times and can't get enough of it... yeah right. there aren't enough hours in the day to see all the movies he claims to see. if you watched movies for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week... i'm certain you wouldn't be able to cover the material he claims to cover, especially when you factor in how he says he watches the same one over and over and over.
