VNV Nation is an incredibly awesome group. I've had the chance to see them once. They are one of my more favorite bands. Where did you see them live? I didn't know they were doing any shows right now.
As for recommendations, I have a ton of them. :-) Covenant, a cool group from Sweden and Apoptygma Berzerk, an awesome band from Norway, are two more of my most favorite bands and you should definitely check them out.
