I can confirm that Degrassi is getting press in the States because director Kevin Smith (Clerks, MallRats, Chasing Amy) has confessed he loves the show and is evidently going to film a guest spot on it. He tried to get Ben Affleck to join him but Ben declined.
Growing up I watched a lot of Canadian TV and Degrassi was inevitably on. A few months ago, after getting digital cable, I walked into my house to find my housemate watching the new one. God. It sent me back a few, needless to say.
