Degrassi High
Any fans of this show? The original, Degrassi Jr. High? Degrassi High? What about the New Class? I hear that the New Class is getting some press in the United States? Can anyone confirm that?
Who were your favourite characters? Joey Jeremiah? Snake? Wheels? Spike? Favourite Episodes? Anyone ever meet a character from Degrassi? I met the girl who played Spike's friend (I think her name was Cate) last summer at a wedding. Everyone basically forgot about the bride and groom and wanted to talk to her. Hilarious.

I used to watch a bit of Degrassi back in the day, lol. Unfortunately, the new class doesn't come on where I am right now (or if it does, I don't know when).
Apparently, some of the characters go around doing appearances at university's and such. I think Joey and Snake were at Dalhousie the beginning of the year, but I didn't get to see them. |

I loved the old Degrassi, so cheesy. My personal favourite, then and now, was Catlin. Dzam that girl is hot.
A few weeks ago I was walking thru Market Mall in Calgary and there was a big stage set up. On the stage were several members of the cast of the current show, talking to their fans, signing autographs and such. The 12-15yr old crowd seemed pretty excited about it. I suppose if Catlin had been there I would have been too (provided my girlfriend wasnt looking ).

Ya Catlin is hot, but I've always prefered Spike, I think it was the hair in the old ones that did it, but even in the new ones she's hot as hell. The new one is cool Joey, caitlin, Snake, Spike, although Spike and Snake being married is a little odd.
Oh god I can't believe I still watch this show.....must shut up now.

Oh man I remember watching Degrassi Jr. High in school. Good stuff. I've heard about the new version, with the old kids as teachers. Cool idea. Must try to download some
So I guess I'm confirming the press in the States. err... I don't think it's getting much press, but I have heard people talking about it. Folks that are lucky and have digital cable and 3000 channels that is.

Haha. gotta love Degrassi. Haven't seen any of the new school shows though. I heard Jay and Silent Bob will be on the show for a few episodes though. That should be good.
Gotta agree with Caitlin, she's great and what was her name? that trampy girl that Joey was hooking up with over the summer? I think it was a special, or a movie, but it was the summer, Joey was getting all this acton, they ended up at a cabin for a big party... blah blah. Anyway, great stuff. I had that damn Zit Remedy song stuck in my head the other day for some reason.

I remember two episodes in particular, both involving Joey. The first was when Joey accepted a bet to walk through the halls of Degrassi with nothin on but his socks and his trademark hat covering his Johnson. The other episode was the one where the big fat guy is bullying Joey, so Joey finally says he'll fight him and they fight in the bathroom and the fat guy draws blood and he says "don't touch me! I have AIDS". Oh and I just remembered the best one... where Caitlyn's psycho bf commits suicide in the bathroom and Snake finds him. CLassic.

ahhhh Tessa, that's the girl. Can't believe that I forgot that. That line in that show (I think the name of the special was "School's Out") when Catilin finds out about her... classic. "You were fucking Tessa Campenelli?!!!"

School's Out was on Showcase a couple of months ago I watched it again. I hadn't seen it in a few years, still a good movie. Wheels was on Degrassi a while back, still looks the same as well

Degrassi was on TV here just when everyone got home from school... i think just about every aussie child watched it religiously.
the scene where Wheels gets propositioned by that old perve in the car, "... oh Wheels, what strong legs you have..." is still memorable, and still amusing, especially when he picked up the rock in defense. i wonder if the newer Degrassi stuff is on TV after school over here these days, like the classic stuff used to be?

Loved Degrassi... when the last episode aired I was in University and we had a Degrassi party.
We all thought it was pretty cool that Lucy was going to go to our Univeristy to study film... just like us. Today the actress that plays Lucy (Anais) is an acquaintence of mine. I distribute a couple of the films she directed. She is still a very attractive woman. A good friend of mine did the deal that sold the New Degrassi to N in the States... he was at a conference where the acquisitions person for N was describing what would be the perfect show for their new block of Tween programming on Noggin. She described Degrassi perfectly. He chatted with her and the rest is history.

HAHA...
I can confirm that Degrassi is getting press in the States because director Kevin Smith (Clerks, MallRats, Chasing Amy) has confessed he loves the show and is evidently going to film a guest spot on it. He tried to get Ben Affleck to join him but Ben declined. Growing up I watched a lot of Canadian TV and Degrassi was inevitably on. A few months ago, after getting digital cable, I walked into my house to find my housemate watching the new one. God. It sent me back a few, needless to say.

oh fuck, Jonovision there's a show I haven't thought about in a bit. Love the fact he's J-Roc now, Jonathan Torrens is great. Sadly enough I too watched that reunion episode of Jonovision.

I remember way back when there was the kids of Degrassi Street. Long long time ago. The show was targeted for kids a little younger than me, but I ended up watching it on occasion. (living in the country with 2 channels, one can't get too picky).
Lame, but endearing. |

Just to resurrect, Kevin Smith appeared on Degrassi last night. I think it must have been a repeat, though, because the show was based on the prom or something... It didn't make sense. Does Degrassi ever make sense, though?

Actually Kevin Smith was on this week and the storyline continues for the next 2 weeks (Jason Mewes is on next week). First time I've ever watched the new class, but I'm such a Kevin Smith geek there's no way I wasnt watching.
