Neither iChat nor Adium has mobiel device recognition. If someone's phone accepts IMs as text messages on AIM, it shows a phone icon. That way you know that a conversation might be really slow, and the person is afk. Using iChat or Adium it is a guessing game to figure out who is actually online and who just has an AIM capable device. My vote still goes to Adium, but it'd be nice if they could fix that problem.
