I rented it today. Spoiler: Spoiler: I am on the Citadel and have just agreed to take out the Exchange boss for a little help from a buxom alpha female I met in the cantina
I like it. It's the little improvements that make it a very good game. I especially like two weapon profiles you can switch between in battle. Very handy stuff.
I only have two problems. The first lies in the story. The first couple of hours, time I should have spent acclimating to the finer changes (in battle, gaining/losing the respect of the party and such) were spent playing catch up. There's a whole lot of information there just seems to be thrown at you for the sake of throwing it at you. It's not that I don't like the story, I do, but good gawd give a fellow some breathing room, will ya?
The second is the load times. Maybe it's an issue with my particular copy, but the load times are ridiculous. Especially at the Citadel. Do one thing, go somewhere else....loading....loading......loading.....loading. Do one other thing, have to go somewhere else....loading.....loading...well, you get the point. Not to mention it's all hurky jerky in some places. In a couple of places, I get some really weird kaliediscope thing going on where I can't see anything. And sometimes the audio cuts out. I hope this is just an issue with this particular disc and when I purchase the game later (which I will undoubtedly do) the screwy stuff will be gone.
Edit: Turns out it was a disc problem. I traded it back where I rented it for another copy and even though it looks like it's been roughed up it works almost flawlessly. There's still a few places where it fucks up and the load times still suck pretty hard, but it's not nearly as bad as it was.
I have to say that with 15 hours logged in as an evil dual blade wielding badass, I'm really starting to enjoy this game.
