While I assume ya'll are talking about PCs, and since the iPod started in the Mac world, I'll throw in the fact that if you have a Mac just plug it in. It will ask if you want to link that pod with your mac just click no. It will mount in iTunes and you can copy over the needed tracks. he can then use a Pod ripper to rip them off his pod and down to his Pc/Mac.
