I'm currently in my first year of engineering at UBC and I'd definately reccomend UBC over SFU. I don't know much about SFU, but ive been there a few times and it's not a place i would like to go to school. The campus reminds me of a prison and seems like its continously in the fog because its on the top of a mountain. I really have no idea about the academics there though. I've been pretty happy with UBC so far, but it is definately a big school. This has its advantages and disadvantages.... There are lots of oppertunities as far as classes and activities are concerned, but i know a few people who feel overwhelmed by the size of everything. If you do end up at UBC i would recomend living on campus your first year as that is probably the easiest way to meet lots of people. If you lived off campus you would miss out on of alot of the social aspects of the university. If you have any more UBC questions let me know and i can try and help.
