It sounded to me like one of the following scenarios:
Since they were using a <i>real</i> orchestra they had to transpose the song to accomodate certain instruments. The guitar player either didn't get the memo or didn't know how to transpose.
-or-
Amy Lee had a cold and the entire song had to be transposed to accomodate her inability to hit the higher notes for this performanace. The guitar player either didn't get the memo or didn't know how to transpose.
-or-
The guitar player was in standard tuning and the song is in an alternate tuning or the other way around.
-or-
The guitar player was miffed because he was playing with Evanescence (or something) and sabotaged the performance.
In any case the guitar player came across as very unprofessional. I for one REFUSE to cut anyone slack for playing like that. He should have just dropped out. There is no excuse for it if you are a professional.
